These are mausoleums built for Mexican drug dealers post-humously mostly by their families... it is an entire city by now. Google it there's quite a few interesting pics. May I just add that the resemblance of these mausoleums to some of the modern buildings seen around the Mediterranean is quite surprising.

Πέρασα περίπου 17 χρόνια της ζωής μου στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Κανείς ποτέ δε μου είπε ποιοί ήταν οι Σεφάρδοι και οι Ρωμανιώτες κι όμως αποτελούσαν το 60% του πληθυσμού της πόλης μέχρι να γίνει "ελληνική" ή να "απελευθερωθεί". Επίσης, μόλις τώρα έμαθα ότι κάποτε σε αυτή την πόλη μιλούσαν μία περίεργη γλώσσα με το όνομα Yevanic. Το πανεπιστήμιό της έχει κτιστεί επάνω σε ένα νεκροταφείο (εβραϊκό κι αυτό - εδώ μια παλιά φωτογραφία) και όπως είναι φυσικό πουθενά στο χώρο αυτού του υπερσύγχρονου (...) πανεπιστημίου δεν αναφέρεται κάτι τέτοιο. Το πανεπιστήμιο μάλιστα έχει ως σύμβολό του τον "άγιο" δημήτριο, παρότι οι χριστιανοί σ' αυτή την πόλη ήταν ανέκαθεν μειοψηφία και παρότι ονομάζεται Αριστοτέλειο. 58.000 εβραίοι (!!) από τη Θεσσαλονίκη πέθαναν στη διάρκεια του 2ου Παγκόσμιου Πολέμου και δε νομίζω να γίνεται η οποιαδήποτε αναφορά σε αυτό το γεγονός σε οποιοδήποτε σχολείο της περιοχής... μάλιστα τo 1890 ζούσαν σε αυτή περίπου 16.000 νεοέλληνες και 55.000 εβραίοι (!). Η αρχιτεκτονική της πόλης είναι από τις πιο περίεργες στην ευρώπη, ένα μείγμα "νεοκλασικισμού" και τουρκικού - νοτιοευρωπαϊκού "στυλ" και όσο και να θέλω τα ελάχιστα παλιά κτήρια της πόλης ποτέ δε μου θύμιζαν κάτι το ελληνικό. Μικρότητες... εδώ και εδώ ο Ηλίας Πετρόπουλος επί του θέματος.

I sometimes wonder how much pot these rich people smoke everyday. They plan to make a 115m tall steel tower (designed by Anish Kapoor who's increasingly getting on my nerves) next to the Olympic Stadium. It will cost 19m pounds and will be higher than the Eiffel Tower (so f*ing what?). By the way, it will be called the Hubble Bubble... which reminds me of... the worst music I've ever heard in my life: a late 70s punk group from Belgium (!). You really have to check them out.

Μόλις γύρισα από διακοπές λίγες ημερών στην Ελλάδα (αν η Θεσσαλονίκη θεωρείται Ελλάδα - αυτό είναι το θέμα του επόμενου post με εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον υλικό). Συμπεράσματα:

1) Οι μετανάστες στη Γερμανία (ιδιαίτερα στο Μόναχο) είναι το πιο ακραίο κοινωνικό φαινόμενο των καιρών μας. Η εξέλιξή των έχει σταματήσει στο έτος 1971 σε ΚΑΘΕ επίπεδο (ρούχα, γλώσσα, φαγητό, πολιτικές ιδέες...)

2) Τα μπουζούκια αδειάζουν.

3) Ο Βασίλης Τερλέγκας είναι ο μόνος εν ζωή underground έλλην καλλιτέχνης (1, 2).

4) Παρακαλώ όλους τους Έλληνες να παρακολουθήσουν αυτή την εκπομπή μεταξύ 8ου και 10ου λεπτού. Ευχαριστώ.

Για κάποιο λόγο (από ένα blog) έτυχε να ανοίξω το site ενός γνώριμου από παλιά "φωτογράφου" για τον οποίο είχε τύχει να διαβάσω στις ατελείωτες ώρες αναζήτησης στο Wikipedia. Τελοσπάντων, ο τύπος λέγεται Richard Kern και εν πολλοίς αυτό που κάνει (και αποκομίζει τα προς το ζην μάλιστα) είναι διάφορα projects (sic) με σχετικά ωραίες γκόμενες που ψαρεύει με ποικίλους τρόπους (και οι οποίες φυσικά φωτογραφίζονται γυμνές στο τέλος). Εδώ είναι το site του (την προσοχή εφιστώ - είναι σα ψηφοφόρες ΣΥΡΙΖΑ) με τις εν λόγω φωτογραφίες. Για να μη πολυλογώ, ο σωστός τρόπος για να γίνει αυτό που περιγράφω πιο πάνω είναι ένας και είναι ο τρόπος του Pierre Woodman (χοντρός, άσπρος σα το γάλα καραφλός κοντός γάλλος ο οποίος βγάζει λεφτά κάπως έτσι). Και για να τελειώνω με το όλο θέμα, πώς διάολο έχουν γίνει γαμάτες μούρες όλοι αυτοί οι δήθεν καλλιτέχνες (βλέπε Spencer Tunick, Sonic Youth, King Missile), που ουσιαστικά αναπαράγουν την ίδια παπαριά επί 20ετίας από λίγο διαφορετική οπτική (ή ακουστική) γωνία, έχουν χεστεί στο χρήμα και στη γκόμενα ΚΑΙ ακόμα τους θεωρούν πρωτοπόρους οι ανά την υφήλιο ανοργασμικοί (ρε ο τύπος με τους King Missile ακόμη βγάζει χρήματα και κανείς δεν τον έχει λιθοβολήσει, by the way αυτό του το βίντεο νομίζω το 'χει κάνει ο Κern).

Καταρχήν ζητάω συγγνώμη από τους λίγους ανθρώπους που κάποτε διάβαζαν που και που το Sklir. To blog το είχα ξεκινήσει κυρίως σαν ένα περίεργο μέσο επικοινωνίας με τους 5-6 ακόμη πιο περίεργους τύπους που γνωρίζουν τα περί του sklir, κυρίως διότι βλεπόμαστε πολύ σπάνια. Τέλος όμως με τα εσωστρεφή και τα λοιπά εσωκομματικά... από 'δω και πέρα τα posts θα είναι συχνά και το blog αναβιώνει whatever the fuck και όσο απασχολημένος και αν είμαι για να βγάλω τα προς το ζην. Επίσης, προσκαλώ τους λοιπούς ρέμπελους να συμβάλουν με τα γραπτά τους και με τον όποιο τρόπο τελοσπάντων πιστεύουν ότι μπορούν να συμβάλουν (με ένα -λ-).

Θέλω να πω το εξής σήμερα: Πριν από καιρό αποφάσισα να την κάνω από τη Θεσσαλονίκη και να μεταναστεύσω γιατί μου είχαν γίνει τούμπανο από τους κάθε λογής παπαρολόγους (και επειδή θα έπρεπε να παραμείνω άνεργος μετά το πανεπιστήμιο). Σε αυτή τη Θεσσαλονίκη λοιπόν ευημερεί μία ξεχωριστή κατηγορία ανθρώπων σε μεγαλύτερο βαθμό από οπουδήποτε αλλού στο δυτικό κόσμο. Είναι οι ιδιοκτήτες καφετέριας και "night club" (tres sic). Ένας από αυτούς τους στυλοβάτες της κοινωνίας (κυκλοφορούν με trendy tee shirt και SUV) είναι και ο κος. Κανάκης, ο οποίος ταυτόχρονα έχει βρει έναν πολύ καλό τρόπο να διαφημίζει τη βλαμμένη περσόνα του - μία δήθεν σατιρική εκπομπή 4 άεργων που και καλά "τη λέει στο κατεστημένο"... και διερωτώμαι: βρε μαλάκα Κανάκη τα μαγαζιά σου οι ΔΑΠίτες δε τα γεμίζουν; Σε αυτούς δε στηρίζεσαι οικονομικά για ν' αλλάζεις λάστιχα στο 4WD; Οι μαλακοπίτουρες με νοημοσύνη μαϊμούς που ανοίγουν τις πόρτες στα μαγαζιά σου αν θυμάμαι καλά το μέσο ΔΑΠίτη (Ralph Lauren tee and Car Shoe loafer) δε γλείφουν; Εδώ

Στα του Κανακισμού βέβαια (eg. κολλητή παρέα με τα likes του Ντέμη Νικολαϊδη, του "Γρηγόρη" Αρναούτογλου και ταυτόχρονα ύφος λόγιου με εξειδίκευση στο έργο του F. Engels) αυτό είναι το λιγότερο... αλλά...

Όταν αναφέρομαι στο ελληνικό σύστημα υγείας πολλοί (βλέπε Ίωνας) μου τα πρήζουν λέγοντας πως δε μπορεί να είναι έτσι τα πράγματα. I am very sorry for being so inconsistent and not posting a single thing for such a long time. I was actually waiting for this trip to Moscow in order to post something interesting. I must say I have always quite enjoyed the writings of Marx and Engels and indeed the Communist Manifesto is one of the best pieces of utopia and cynicism ever published. On the other hand I've always found it hard to understand how the least industrialised nation on earth (Russia - early 20th century) chose to adopt a socio-politico-economical system that was practically intended to be applied in heavily industrialised societies. The answer is quite easy - they never actually did. All that happened around there was that a bunch of schizophrenic people took over power and created the craziest country on the planet. θυμήθηκα ότι στις 18 Μαρτίου είχε πεθάνει ο Οδ. Ελύτης πριν από μερικά χρόνια, όταν ακόμα περνούσα τα πρωινά μου ξύνοντας τα τέτοια μου σε ένα από τα άχρηστα δημοτικά σχολεία της πατρίδας μου (οι μισές αίθουσες βέβαια ήταν κατασκευασμένες από αμίαντο και το 95% του χρόνου μας το περνούσαμε με μαλακισμένους αγράμματους και κυρίως απαίδευτους "δασκάλους" - με ελάχιστες εξαιρέσεις). Συγκεκριμένα τη μέρα μετά το θάνατό του κάναμε μάθημα στο διάδρομο του σχολείου διότι στην αίθουσα "διδασκαλίας" μας (πρώην αποθήκη του σχολείου) πέφτανε οι σοβάδες από το ταβάνι.... το "σχολείο" ήταν στη Θεσσαλονίκη (εν έτει 1996!!) και μάλιστα όχι σε καμία "υποβαθμισμένη" (τι άθλια έκφραση) περιοχή - όλα κακομαθημένα κωλόπαιδα ήμασταν.

Ο οποίος Ελύτης βέβαια τώρα που το ξανασκέφτοαμαι ως αξιοπρεπέστατος άνθρωπος απέφυγε τη δημόσια κηδεία και όλο αυτό το άθλιο πανηγύρι (βλέπε κηδείες parties γνωστών δήθεν αγωνιστών τύπου Μελίνα, Ανδρέας, αλλά και θρησκευτικών ηγετών τύπου χριστόδουλος - μικρό το χ).

Με αφορμή αυτό λοιπόν, σκέφτομαι πόσο δημιουργική υπήρξε η Ελλάδα κάποια χρόνια της δεκαετίας του 50 και του 60 και ειλικρινά δε μπορώ να καταλάβω πως αυτή η γαμημένη χώρα έφτασε σήμερα στο σημείο να έχει αναστείλει κάθε μορφής δημιουργία μέσα σε τρεις - τέσσερις δεκαετίες. Για να καταφέρεις πλέον να εργαστείς και να δημιουργήσεις σε αυτή τη κοινωνία με ανθρώπινους όρους πρέπει απλά να λιμοκτονήσεις! Σκεφτείτε έστω ένα σοβαρό ποιητή, ένα σοβαρό (και όχι κρατικοδίαιτο) μουσικό, ένα σοβαρό ηθοποιό, ένα σοβαρό (και όχι διαπλεκόμενο) εργαζόμενο εν τέλει, ο οποίος να μην έχει αναγκαστεί να μεταναστεύσει ώστε να κάνει στη ζωή του αυτό που νιώθει χωρίς να γλύφει κώλους! Και ταυτόχρονα ψηφίζουμε ανθρωπάκια σαν τους καραμανλήδες, τον παπανδρέο και τον σημίτη ως μερικούς από τους σημαντικότερους (και καλά) έλληνες της ιστορίας...

I am very sorry for the long absence. I've been really busy and things are generally not looking very sklir. Anyway... I've been reading a lot lately regarding the situation in the Aral Sea and Karakalpakstan - the best country in the world. I have been rather lazy lately and quite busy I have to admit, hence the lack of new posts...

I apologise.

I've been in the UK for quite a while now, got a new job and all.. there's loads of things I like and loads of things that I dislike so far, but these will be analysed in the future given that this is only the beginning. The great thing thus far is that I haven't watched any TV for 5 months now - and I mean not a single show!

To make up for the lack of posts during the last few days, I would like to recommend a really nice site which includes loads of works by Zdzislaw Beksinski, a polish artist whose paintings are really interesting and very very very different. Please have a look.

I would like to share a few drawings by Mr. Pierre Klossowski (I will come back with Balthus - aka. Pierre's brother). He was a writer and an artist who, among many different things, translated some of F. Nietzsche's writings in French and had been close to Bataille (being a founding and active member of the Acephale society)... Klossowski was partly responsible, together with a bunch of other Sklir people (Bataille for instance), for distinguishing the work of Nietzsche from fascism and the Nazi paranoia of the mid-war period.

Nice thing these riots! I am pretty sure that absolutely nothing's going to change in Greece after everything settles down...

... well, as far as I am concerned... I'll be waiting for the documentary due to be released in 2048, regarding the Greek December of '08... I really enjoyed the ones I saw last May about the incidents in France back in '68 (it was the 40th anniversary this year you see). And may I remind everyone who is the President of France in 2008 (40 years after the historical "riot" which, supposedly, changed Europe - click here).
